Request settings (Microsoft 365 group / security group) 


Enable user request in groups (Microsoft 365 groups / security groups) 

This function allows users to invite external users in Microsoft 365 groups and in Microsoft 365 security groups. 

 

To enable this feature the “Request” section should be opened under the “Settings” tab. 

In request settings “Microsoft 365 group” and “Microsoft 365 security group” with relevant toggles are displayed. 

When the toggle “Microsoft 365 group” is turned off a user is not able to invite external users in Microsoft 365 groups. That is, in "Create Request" dialog the Microsoft 365 groups can't be selected. 

 

When the toggle is turned on a user is able to invite external users in Microsoft 365 groups. Accordingly, the Microsoft 365 groups can be selected in "Create Request" dialog. 

 

Enable user request in security groups. 

This function allows users to invite external users in Microsoft 365 security groups. (Security groups can be created in Admin center). 

 

To enable this feature the “Request” section should be opened under the “Settings” tab. 

In request settings the “Microsoft 365 security group” and relevant toggle are displayed. 


When that toggle is turned off a user is not able to invite external users in security groups. That is, in "Create Request" dialog the security groups can't be selected. 

  

When the toggle is turned on a user is able to invite external users in security groups.  

Important: The user who creates a request, i.e. invites an external user in the security group, must be a security group member or owner to use this feature. 

 

 

This completes the functionality on “Request settings” in External User Manager.
