We assume that you already aware of the Add-In infrastructure in SharePoint 2013 and 2016. Meeting Manager can be installed on its own server, SharePoint doesn’t need to necessarily be installed on it – we call it App-Server. Furthermore, all communication will by encrypted using SSL.
